RV 2024.1 won't run, crashes on Macos Sequoia 15.2

Upgraded my macbook to 15.2 and RV does not run. Tried reinstalling with no luck. Crash log attached.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

In general I would advice not to update to the latest MacOS release immediately considering Apple keeps making changes to the OS and it will sometimes requires a rebuild of software to properly work.

You should check if RV works when giving it “Full Disk Access” from the MacOS Privacy & Security menu.

Totally understand the MacOS situation, this was exploratory, so I’m noting it here. Full Disk Access did not help, issued the same crash.

Hello @laurenceC ,
We have a fix for this issue. And we are doing our best to release a new version of RV 2024.2.0 with this fix as soon as possible (hopefully before the end of the week but we cannot guarantee anything)
It has to do with the garbage collector used by RV that did not like the macOS Sequoia 15.2 update (it was fine on macOS Sequoia 15.1.1)

In the mean time, if you wish to have access to an RV Pre-Release version of RV 2024.2.0, please reach out to me by sending me a private message with your email address so we can send you an email invite to the RV Pre-Release program.

Thanks Bernard! That’s great news. I know it’s a challenge keeping up with MacOS changes.

FYI: We have just released new versions of RV containing the fix to successfully launch RV on macOS Sequoia 15.2:
RV 2024.2.0 and RV 2023.0.3
