Why are Tickets Project Entities?

Is it possible to change or give the option to make Tickets non-project entities?

I’ve been using them for a bit now to see if it’s nicer than an external tool but I’m hitting the issue that I have to link a ticket to a project and that people will only see it’s progress if they are assigned to that project.

No, Theres not a way to have non-project tickets, they behave in the same way as tasks, they need a project. The way many clients work around this is to have a separate project for tickets like “studio” or “development” and have a custom project field to link to the project it relates to.
