Site Performance Issues and Slow Python API Connection

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone has experienced similar issues or could guide me in the right direction.

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been noticing significant performance problems with both our ShotGrid site and the Python API. When using the Python API to connect to ShotGrid, it takes about 5–8 seconds to establish a single connection. Additionally, there are times when using the ShotGrid website itself feels very sluggish, causing delays in our workflow.

I’ve tried investigating the issue but haven’t been able to pinpoint the root cause yet. If anyone has suggestions on where I should start troubleshooting or ideas on what might be causing this, I’d greatly appreciate your insights.

Has anyone else encountered similar slowness, or are there best practices/tools to monitor and diagnose such issues effectively?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,

There is a Site Activity Monitor app available to Site Admins that can potentially show you where the trouble may stem from.

I also would urge you to contact Autodesk Support if the issue persists so they can assist.

Hi Ricardo,

Thank you for pointing me to the Site Activity Monitor app! I’ve reached out to Autodesk Support and, after investigating, we found that a part of our tool was sending a large number of duplicate filters, which caused the performance issues.

I’ve now identified the source of the problem and implemented fixes. Currently, I’m waiting for further feedback from the support team to confirm whether the issue has been fully resolved.

Thanks again for your guidance—it was very helpful!

Best regards,
