Request to allow file uploads only during creation (not during edit)

Hi,

I’d like to report an issue with file uploads in ShotGrid.
Currently, when uploading a file, it behaves as if the file is being modified rather than attached during the initial creation.

I’d like the system to allow file attachments only at the time of creation, and not during edits.
Right now, since uploads don’t work properly without edit permissions, we’ve had to temporarily grant edit rights — which makes it difficult to enforce our security policies.

Ideally, files should upload successfully during initial creation even without edit permissions, and not be editable afterward.

Please consider updating this behavior.

could you elaborate on what sort of situation you see the potential for someone “editing” an uploaded file in the current situation?
