My apologies for what is probably a very simple question. When in Shotgrid and using Play in RV to review shots, how do I get RV to default to opening in Rec709 and not sRGB?
Any direction or links to articles would be appreciated.

Do you mean the view or the linearization for rec709? For view, check out display profiles, otherwise for linearization check out source setup plugins.
If you want a particular extension to default to rec709, theres an environment variable you can set to make an override transfer, see this doc:
