Exclude annotation paint over from OCIO

One of our artists pointed out that the annotations tool colour sampler/picker wasn’t selecting the correct colour when using OCIO display transforms.

After a quick look, I found that the colour sampler/picker IS selecting a correct colour, based on the visible pixels in the the view. The issue appears to be that the OCIO display transform is affecting the annotation paint layer. This results in the painted colour appearing to not match the sampled colour.

The desired result is that the artist can sample a visible colour, and paint over the image without that paint strokes colour being altered by the OCIO display transform.

Is this possible?

Without dicing into it, that seems lik a stacking issue, where the paint strokes should be stacked aove any OCIO transforms while still holding the correct value.

Thanks Ricardo, yes having the ability to control or modify the (stacking) order of these operation/elements seems like a potential solution.

Any tips, resources or examples which explain how to achieve this?
I’m happy to dig into the technical aspect of this, but unsure how stacking order is handled in general.

For reference we’re using a slightly modified version of the OCIO basic color management package, which also has the same default behaviour described above. I understand annotations can be drawn on the view, or on each source. I assume we need to target painting on the view to be able to stack above the view display transform.

Unfortunately I don’t have any answers here, I would imagine it’s a bug that needs to be resolved by the RV devs.

It would be best to make a ticket to Autodesk about it.
The forum is not an official ticketing system so it may not get seen here.
