Are watermarks available as an option for web viewable media

is it possible for Shotgun to add watermarks to web viewable media? IF so, how is it turned on and is it configurable for different roles or logins (i.e vendor vs artist)

This is a feature that Shotgun used to support years ago. AD has since deprecated it for some reason. They were supposed to replace it with a third party system (that AD purchased) in 2022 but I haven’t heard anymore about it since then.

I’m pretty sure this functionality is still available however it may require your site to be connected to your own S3 bucket.

Best to contact Autodesk Support about it.

I think that’s available now with Flow Capture; it creates custom watermarks based on the user who is viewing the media, based on their login credentials. It was an interesting tool, but it had its own pricing structure separate from Flow Tracking/Shotgun/Shotgrid, and in my testing, trying to watch a sequence of watermarked videos wasn’t ideal, as the creation of the watermark created a noticeable hiccup between shots, which didn’t work well for our reviews.

This was maybe beginning of the year though, so maybe the latter has been improved on at this point.

thank you for the information. I was hoping it was still available as an option we could have shotgrid support tun on. I think that used to be an option.

When I was at Riot Games in 2021, we spoke with AD about enabling it and they said it was no longer available (things might have changed since then). They said they were rolling out Flow Create to replace, which is an external app. We expressed our concern that images/movies in Screening Room wouldn’t be watermarked. They said they were still working on what support inside FPT would look like.

Contact them.
I can’t elaborate but I have seen it working, however I do think it;s likely working on sites that have their Media Isolated using the Media Isolation Feature, I am not 100% sure about that.

Again, contact support, this forum is not an official way to ask for support.
