Use Date Fields as ID Fields While Importing Bookings in Bulk

Hi ShotGrid community,

While doing a bulk import of Bookings, I am unable to use the Start and End Date fields as ID fields:

Is this a limitation of ShotGrid?
Or is it possible that we have not configured these fields properly on our ShotGrid site?

Please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Govind.

I am under the same issue - Any suggestion or help here?

Thanks!

ID fields are used by fptk only and are auto populated when entries are made. The reason the are options in the importer is for linking up existing entires to new data.
For example if you exported existing booking entries, added new/additional data and reimported, you could use the entry IDs to ensure the data is landing on the correct entries

He means to use the Start and End date of the bookings as ID field in the importer, to avoid duplicates.
Not the actual ID field.

Wat are you trying to achieve here?
Where did the data of the bookings originate?

Oops, my fault. I read that while I was on the go.

I’m not 100% sure the technical reason why they don’t allow ref IDs on the date fields when importing bookings/phases but I know you can have potentially many of the same booking with the same dates/assigned to/project. If you’re modifying existing records then using the ID field is the best way to make sure your changes are going to the correct entry. If your just adding new entries, then you wouldn’t need to ID match the date fields anyway
