Timecode field - is this usable?

Hi all,

I just stumbled over the timecode field type and got excited for a split second. However, upon testing it it seems completely useless, or at least not at all what I thought it would be.
The docs say that it displays timecode based on miliseconds. Who needs that?

Shouldn’t it have a time base and start time so that frames can be converted to TC reliably?
Or am I missing the point of this field completely?

I believe this field only supports timcodes based on 23.976 fps.
It may have changed since then, not sure.
