Shotgun Desktop installation on macOS Catalina

Hi everyone,

As some of you have already experienced, there is a warning on MacOS Catalina saying “Shotgun Desktop can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software”. This is due to a new security signature check added in Catalina.

You can still install Shotgun Desktop by allowing it via the Security & Privacy preferences on your Mac. We are hoping to resolve this for the next release of Shotgun Desktop.

Thanks for raising it here. Yay we have had similar report and logged the issue internally. As for now, allowing it via the Security & Privacy preferences on your Mac is the workaround we could go with.

Hi!
We have an open beta for the Shotgun Desktop Python 3 support. This new build is properly notarized by Apple. If you want you can try it out. The warning should be gone.
