Prevent open more than one app instance

Hi to all, when we open an app from the Shotgun menu (Maya in this case) a new window open, but when we click again another window opens, so we can have X number of the same app opened, is there a method to prevent this?

Unfortunately as far as I know, there isn’t a way without modifying the app itself.
