Flow Generative Scheduling Release Notes

Release date: July 30, 2024 ET

Use Flow Generative Scheduling to quickly generate scenarios of a schedule imported from Flow Production Tracking.

Look at the presentation video here!

Schedules are commonly built on estimates and assumptions, but inevitably things change during the lifecycle of a project. The project schedule needs to be continually adjusted to accommodate changes in constraints.

However, adjusting and re-leveling a schedule is time consuming. Staying ahead of changing project requirements quickly becomes unmanageable, and ensuring that your schedule continually matches your project’s needs can feel impossible.

This is where Flow Generative Scheduling aims to help, by providing you with the ability to create realistic and balanced schedules that are easy to explore and adjust throughout the lifecycle of your project.

Accessing Flow Generative Scheduling

Flow Generative Scheduling is part of the Flow Production Tracking subscription. Your administrator gives you access to it from Flow Production Tracking. Once you have access, you can launch Flow Generative Scheduling from the Apps menu.

Really looking forward to trying this!

Is there any way for generative scheduling to take into account cross-entity dependencies? For example, requiring shot layout to start only after all assets in that shot have been approved in a particular asset task?

Hi!

Can you create a new post in the Generative Scheduling category, please? It will help the readability of the discussions around your question.

Thanks

Thanks, this is long time coming and can’t waiting to make use of it.

Can the documentation please include more information on the OSF Dependency syntax? it’s unclear what the values after the : on an Activity ID are intended to do?

We’ve released the following in Flow Generative Scheduling 1.2.0:

Improvements

  • Integration with Flow Production Tracking can now be used with Flow Production Tracking sites that are using an IP allow list.
  • Activity filter counter now displays number of all applied filter options and uses different color when there are filters applied.
  • Activity duration now supports up to 3 decimal points for hour-level accuracy.
  • Activity filter moved to a panel instead of a menu.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue with the application appearing to hang during import when the schedule’s total duration exceeds the maximum allowable number of days.
  • Fixed issue with schedule generation failing if no resource requirements are defined.
  • Fixed multiple cases of schedule generation failing due to non-deterministic numerical precision edge cases.
