We’re using cross-project linking for assets in a couple of our shows. We also use query fields on shots in order to display categorized assets linked to the shot for characters, props, bgs, etc.
This does not seem to work with cross-project links however. In Project X, Character assets linked to the Shot show up in our Characters query field. But Asset Library character assets linked to the Shot do not show up. I’m assuming this is because the query field query doesn’t take this into account and has a default project filter set. But unlike the page filters, we don’t have the option to modify this in query fields.
What’s the solution here? Has anyone else run into this?

The “workaround” for this right now is to update the filter(s) on the entity page:
- click on the gear icon in the filter panel and disable the default project filter
- add a manual filter for the project:
<project> <is> <current_project>
This somehow un-borks the query field filters to include the linked project assets as well.
Unfortunately this means you have to add a default filter for any tab/entity list with this modification.
Autodesk support initially said we’d need to include the linked project as well in the filters but I found that wasn’t necessary and it just needed the current project.
Maybe that’ll help someone. They’ve marked this as a “feature request” despite the fact that it’s a workaround. So I feel confident this will help someone out there over the next few years
