QtUiTools in tk-core?

Trying to access QtUiTools module to get around compiling ui and rc files for custom apps.
Any plans if this is planned to be implemented in the core?

Can access it with from sgtk.platform.qt import QtUiTools

Sure will do…
But yesterday I found an older post asking the same thing (whoops… Duplicate) and Phillip Scadding raised some concerns about why this may have downside. He couldn’t remember the exact reason though.

How to compile Qt ui and resource files on Windows

Hm I see… well I am now compiling the ui files with the python module pysideuic which has a compileUi() method in place. Changed up the build_resource.sh to run a small python script that invokes this command when compiling the ui files. This works fine for me at the moment. Still I think it’s strange that the PySide installation for windows comes with a compiled pyside-rcc binary but lacks the uic equivalent. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, feel free to submit it anyway. At the end of the day whilst we (Shotgun) may not use that component, it doesn’t mean others can’t.
