Override Roots.yml

Hi,

We have a unique name for our root token in roots.yml. The comments mention that this could be overwritten at any time (I’m assuming by it changing the token name back to primary.
Everything in the token is the same as primary except for the token name.
Is there a way to retain that new token name (i.e. create a new token in templates) that references the root without changing roots.yml?

Note that the roots are also defined in Site preferences -> File management.
Not sure how they are synced to the local config.
