Important Notice for End of March 2026 - Breaking Changes for Python 3.7

Dear Flow Production Tracking (FPT) Community,

Last year, in September 2024, we announced the end of support for Python 3.7: Reminder for End of February 2025 - End of Support for ShotGrid Desktop 1.7 and for Python 3.7 in FPT Toolkit.
While we maintained compatibility since February 2025, this is now changing.

Effective April 1, 2026, both Flow Production Tracking Toolkit and Python API will completely discontinue support for Python 3.7. This change ensures we maintain the high security standards you expect from Flow Production Tracking.

This change also applies to ShotGrid Desktop v1.7 which bundled Python 3.7.

Action Required :warning:

We strongly recommend upgrading to Python 3.11, the latest version, before March 31, 2026. There is no guarantee that your tools will continue to work with Flow Production Tracking after this date if they’re still using Python 3.7.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen on April 1st, 2026?

New released versions of Python API and Toolkit components will be incompatible with Python 3.7.

Why are you discontinuing Python 3.7?

Python 3.7 reached end-of-life in June 2024 and no longer receives security updates.
Discontinuing support allows us to maintain compliance with Autodesk Security Guidelines and ensure our product remains secure.

What Python versions are currently supported?

We officially support:

  • Python 3.9
  • Python 3.10
  • Python 3.11

Up-to-date information can be found in our Platform Supported Versions document.

We plan to introduce support for Python 3.13 in 2026 to align with VFX Reference Platform CY2026.

I migrated to Python 3.9/3.10/3.11 but my pipeline is now broken

This is not expected so please open a case with support, making sure to include all related configuration details.

Review any custom scripts and hooks in your configuration and workflow.

Hi Julien,

I understand that this change is similar to the one from last year where the support for python2 was dropped. Flow custom tools will no longer work with python3.7 and issues in the api with python 3.7 will not be fixed but the right api version for python3.7 will still work. This is the scenario with python2 since we are still querying FLOW from python2 with the right version of the API even though FLOW dropped supprt.

Am I correct or did I miss something? Thanks

Hi @DanielWalo3doubles, yes, you are correct.

The coming changes will only impact the new released versions of Toolkit and Python API. Current versions (as with any coming versions released before end of March 2026) are expected to work with Python 3.7 but are no longer supported.
