# RV crash when loading EXR dwaa / dwab compression!

RV crash when loading EXR dwaa / dwab compression!

Any suggestion or it’s a bug on RV?

Hi Jimmy!

dwaa and dwab are supported for EXRs, so there must be something going on.

Do you have or can you make an image without any sensitive data in it that you can share? I can get you an email to send it to via dm.

Hey Jimmy!

Do you mind if we quickly check if this is an already known bug?

What version of RV are you using? We have fixed a crash for DWA EXR files in RV 7.6.1. If you can upgrade to that version, please do!

Otherwise, you can avoid the crash by changing the EXR I/O method from Memory Mapped to Standard:

**rv --exrIOMethod 0 your.exr**

And then set anything but Memory Mapped in the Preferences under `RV -> Preferences -> Formats -> Open EXR -> I/O Method`.

Does that prevent RV from crashing? If not, please send us a sample as per Welker’s request 🙂
