I’ve been working in the film industry for more than 20 years, mostly on high-end online editing projects, and I’ve yet to see a production tracking system that truly hits the nail on the head when it comes to post-production.

Obviously, I’m looking at this from an operator’s point of view, and I don’t fully understand the realities of the market, but after all these years I’m still surprised that no individual or company has properly addressed it.

I’d love to see a product that genuinely links the worlds of PPPs, editors, assistants, colour, online, and mastering into a single workflow from start to finish. So much information gets passed between departments, yet there still isn’t a system that fully connects the entire post-production pipeline.

By the way, there’s nothing wrong with Flow. It’s a solid product and works well, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Anyone at Discreet care to listen?
